This restaurant is absolutely fabulous!
In my personal opinion, I think this was by far the best place to eat in Sami and was also the cheapest and absolute best value for money!! The portions were very big and worth every last cent!
The service was excellent and on entering the restaurant, we were welcomed by almost every member of staff with a friendly attitude. I would definitely reccommend this restaurant 100%!
The Mermaid is a lovely restaurant to go and eat in Sami because Theo and Eifee look after you really well I do feel for them having to work from 10am until 3am but as for Eifee she is such a sweetheart and has a very good sense of humour and helps you with problems. Theo is also a nice guy even though he does not say much and he looks after his mamma and his sister really well. The first time I eat there one of their brothers Alex dropped my burger down my new shorts but he gave me another one which was very good of him but you don't see much of the other brother George but he is alright as well infact Theo and Eifee are very nice. The food is always nice and everyone is most welcome. Ryan Ensor
We have been to Sami several times and it is a special place for us with special people. The Mermaid taverna is our favourate taverna. We love the family who are very friendly and make you feel like their special friend. Effie is lovely, theo has a dry sence of humour and George is just soooo nice, mam and papa are great and work very hard. This year they had two new recruits their names I forget, they were being trained up very well and were both lovely. The food and service is great. The whole place is friendly and great, we love it.
We couldn't wait to return to Sami on our second visit to Kefalonia, and the 'Mermaid Taverna' was a must for our lunch! It is ideally situated on the harbour-front, with tables in the sun or shade. We found the food excellent - the Chicken Souvlaki was the best that I have tasted in Greece, and I have visited at least eight different islands! The Greek Salad is a meal in itself and makes a great accompaniment to the freshly cooked Kalamaris (no frozen squid rings in this Taverna!!) It is a family run concern - Mama does all the cooking herself , and the rest of the family give courteous, friendly service - Effi even remembered us from our visits last year! Do try the local red wine - sold by the kilo! - and spend a relaxing hour or two over an excellent lunch! We hope that everyone at the Mermaid has a good rest over the winter, and we look forward to seeing you all again on our return to Kefalonia soon! We also send our regards to Theodore, who has come to England to complete his studies at UCL!

We enjoyed the feel of this place, very friendly, we where always greeted with a smile and the waiter helped us with our Greek. On top of this great home cooked food (Try the lamb kleftiko)& no rushing you out if you wanted to savour the odd bottle of wine or too.
