Lovely to read all the comments about Angelas.

We stayed there in June last year and would go back in a heartbeat. Unable to go this year though as, 2 weeks after we got back from Lourdas, I found out I was pregnant and now have a gorgeous son.

We'll be back next year though.

The black and white cat has been about the last 2 holidays we've had (stayed in Villa Mare in 2003). Careful if you sleep with the patio doors open as we woke up one morning with her asleep on the bed

Love to all in Lourdas, especially the lads in The Blue Sea taverna and Tasos the car hire guy.

Sunbird - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

Stayed in Lourdas the last 2 years and cant recommend Sunbird highly enough.

In 2003, we hired a car for a few days but decided to keep it until the final day. Tasos was fantastic and helpful and the friendliest guy you could meet.

In 2004, we booked from the UK to collect the car at the airport and return it to the airport on the way home.

Got an online discount and Tasos even phoned us at home to confirm the details and for a chat.

Not going this year due to newborn baby but we'll be back next years and hiring a car from Tasos again.

Lourdas Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

There are 2 decent sized supermarkets on the main road in Lourdas, almost opposite each other and they both sell full fat milk. Just make sure you check the dates as they don't seem as worried as us about selling stuff coming up to best before dates.

If you hire a car at any point (and, if you do, try Tasos at Sunbird), theres a large 'cash and carry' type place just before you get to Argastoli which will probably have a better range of stuff like nappies etc. HTH

I'll be travelling with a 15 month old son this year so I'll be in the same boat as you.

Blue Sea Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Loved this place. It was only a couple of minutes walk along the beach for us and we ate there most nights. As we tend to eat late, it was never that busy and we got excellent attention. After eating there for 3 nights, the staff started giving us a free beer each with our meal

I don't eat meat but this wasn't a problem as there were many veggie dishes and the tuna salad was gorgeous. Most of the portions were huge and 2 courses was plenty.

Klimatis Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Have to say, the food here was excellent. I didn't find the staff to be the friendliest bunch going but, maybe August in a 42 degree heartwave isn't the best time to expect service with a smile. The place was rammed out every night, which is always a good sign.

Once again, fabulous. The location of Angelas can not be beaten imo.

We requested and got, room 1 which was perfect for us with it's beautiful view and ground floor location. A tad small for 3 of us but that was never an issue.

We'll definitely be back.

The food was a bit hit and miss this year but, the staff were excellent. Angela and her sons could not have put themselves out more to make us feel welcome. Angela even took our son off to play with her for a while so we could enjoy our meal in peace.

On the last night, they even gave us a bottle of Robola to take home to say thank you for our custom.

Great place for lunches, snacks and a drink in the evening. The staff were chatty, friendly and very welcoming.

I'd recommend.
