Weekend trip to Athens by coach

Kefalonia Excursions

We stayed in Lassi and couldn't find this trip through any of the agents there, so we arranged it ourselves. The total cost was € 250 return for a family of two adults and three children. The adult fare is more expensive than the children's fare. It takes about 7-8 hours in total using both coach and ferry. There are a few different routes that can be followed. Our outbound trip was taking the coach from Argostoli, coach boards the ferry in Argostoli and sails to Killini (Greece), then coach to Athens. The return trip was Athens to Patros (Greece) by coach, Patros to Sami (Kefalonia) by ferry, Sami to Argostoli by coach. We left at 7.15am on a Sunday, arriving in Athens at 2.30pm. The return trip left Athens at 5pm and got back to Argostoli at just after midnight. We stayed ine night in Athens, which we pre-arranged. Our operator gave us names of hotels to contact.

We were advised in Argostoli to book the return trip in Athens, which turned out to our advantage. One word of caution, if you haven't experienced the Athens bus terminal, be prepared for a nosiy, dangerous and very hot terminal. Hope they sort it out before next year's games.

We are shortly (in 10 days time) holidaying in Kefalonia for 14 days. We want to go to Athens on the two day trip - is it still being arranged, if so what is the approximate cost (2 adults, one 10 year old child).

Thank you

Two day tour to Athens, including visits to corinth canal,Delphi and day and night tour of athens including all the numerous ancient sites. The tour was with Thompsons, and the guide was excellent (sorry cant remember her name). Hotel in Athens overnight was 1st class. All in all a great tour and very good value for money

Had the most amazing time on this trip (AIRTOURS). The coach trip was quite long, but had sufficient stops, which broke the journey up a bit. We were given about 4 hours to explore Athens when we arrived. The underground is really hectic...use it if you dare! We climbed to the top of Lykavittos hill, which was strenuous, but worth every step, then to Plaka and then to see the changing of the guards. The next day we went to the Acroplois and to see the Olympic stadium. The trip was fantastic.

Corinth canal wonderful as is Athens you must see the soldiers changing the guard in their pom-pom shoes and mini skirts you need cam corder, yes it is a long trip but well worth every penny to see the sun rise from the Acropolis. Go for it.
