Akrogiali Restaurant

Restaurants in Lixouri

Yvonne P          8/10

Visited this restaurant 10 years ago and was always happy with the service and quality of food. There have been a few changes but the food is still good. Invited to view the dishes that had just been cooked before choosing from the menu which does help as you can judge the portion sizes etc. In a great setting on the port road in Lixouri, you can sit back and watch the world go by.

We have visited here over many years used to be run by two brothers and one of the brothers wife, but unfortunately one brother died and for a while this reflected on the restaurant, but visited again this year and things had picked very much, we usually use this restaurant for a mid day snack so cannot really comment on main meals, but the amount of Greek people using it during the day is tremendous so thats for me is good recommendation

Akrogiali is an excellent place to unwind and enjoy excellent Kefalonion food. Every time we stay in Lixouri, the eveninings spent, (most)enjoying traditional Kefalonian food and the company of Makis and Maureen. Costas who ran the restauant is sadly now no longer with us and is greatly missed. Year after year you will find the same people eating there, enjoying the special local fresh food, cooked traditionally, enjoying the singing by the local elders on Saturday evenings. Try the Kefalonian Pie and the Brizola (pork Chop), Sword Fish Steak and Giant Beans. If you wanted a really good bottle of red wine, ask and you will enjoy the most gloriouse local wine you have ever tasted. When I last talked with Costas he was worried because the vinyard had changed hands. If you are looking for 'Designer Cuisine' this is not for you,BUT if you want good food and real Kefalonian hosptality, search no further. Hope to see you there,

Peter & Ann Cartland.
