We've just returned from 2 weeks, staying at the Olive Grove Studios, and we had a fantastic time. Do try to hire a car and see the whole island - it is a beautiful place. The Olive Grove was lovely accommodation - we had a studio rather than an apartment, and it was always kept clean. The pools are nice and, after going out somewhere for the day, we always liked to come back later in the afternoon to use the pool and cool off. The weather was very hot! We ate at a couple of the local tavernas, but because we had the car, we also explored alot and found some brilliant ones further afield. For the best restaurant close to the Olive Grove, I'd recommend Fois, which is on the route to Ai Helis beach. But I think the best taverna we went to on the island was in Katelios, about 30 minutes drive away....fantastic seafood. Would definitely recommend the Olive Grove Studios and hope to go back to Kefalonia again.

Cathy, for car hire I highly recommend Greekstones! They're just round the corner from the Olive Grove and are extremely helpful and friendly. Their rates are pretty good. Melis and his staff are really helpful...in fact, nearly everywhere we went on the island was following recommendations from Greekstones, and they were spot on!

Greekstones was a fantastic car hire company to use...in fact, as advisors on what to do and see on the island, they were so much better than our tour rep! The rates were good, and we were given a free tank of petrol because we hired the car for 2 weeks, and a discount on the price. The lady from Greekstones delivered the car to us at our accommodation, and came with a map of the island for us, and pointed out all the places to visit and was able to give us insider knowledge of the best spots, like the best place to watch the sunset etc. It was really nice getting recommendations from an actual resident of the island. We popped in to their office to see them with a couple of queries, unrelated to the car hire, and they were always very helpful. At the end of the 2 weeks they gave us a membership card which means we can get further discounts if we use them again in the future...which we definitely would! Highly recommended.

We only ate here the once as we weren't actually staying in Katelios. But we were very impressed by the food - we had lunch there, and the seafood was fantastic! The service was friendly and the location was very peaceful. We hoped to go back to the restaurant again, but just ran out of time on our holiday!

Ate here twice. Very nice food, probably the 2nd best restaurant we went to whilst in Kefalonia! The service was fine, and the restaurant was very nicely designed. Good price too.

We didn't find First Choice very good. But it didn't affect our holiday. The flight was fine - a bit cramped, but for a short flight it was ok, and the food was good. The transfer to the resort was very efficient, and the accommodation itself was beautiful...very quiet, but that's what we wanted. Unfortunately, the tour rep wasn't very useful...she did not seem to know the island very well and it was evident in her lack of ability to guide us to the best places to visit, and she couldn't help us when we enquired about horseriding and scuba diving. But this didn't really matter to us as we had booked a hire car from Greekstones and were planning to do our own trips and had been told the best places to go by the hire car company! We did book one excursion through First Choice, the Beach BBQ, which was a brilliant day out. So you basically got what you paid for...it was a cheap holiday, so don't expect too great a service from the tour rep, but it still didn't affect our holiday and we had a great time.
