Great place for a visit with stunning views over the island. We arrived the first time at 2.45, only to find that the castle closes at 3 pm, so had to go back the following day. Having read the other comments, we'll make sure we visit To Castro next time.

Having read some of the comments here, I can't believe we're talking about the same place! Having heard about a "fish taverna" we visited one night - all I can say is that service was surly (to say the least) - the only fish available was white snapper, whitebait and sardines - and yes, this was during a fine-weather spell - but we wouldn't have minded if the waiter had been a bit less unfriendly. We paid for our ouzo and left - went back down the beach to Klimatis (which had plenty of fish!) We've been visiting Kefalonia for many years, and have never been so unimpressed before. Won't go back.

We love La Gondola We always stay in Lourdas, but it's well worth the drive to eat here! Food is wonderful, service impeccable, nice squidgy chairs, extremely reasonable prices - and the square just comes alive at night, so a great place to people-watch. I think this is possibly my favourite restaurant on the island (so far!) Fabulous!!

La Mer is always excellent - great food, pleasant surroundings and friendly service. We thought the menu was even better this year, with lots of new additions. Don't miss the sole stuffed with crab in wine/mushroom sauce - and there's a new chicken dish with prawns and garlic butter which was to die for (and Lamb la Mer etc etc etc ....) Fabulous views and sunsets, reasonable prices - and great if you want a change from the standard Greek menu.

We liked Patritsias very much. The food is good, lovely location on the beach, and extremely friendly and helpful service - free carafe of wine, even! Restaurant itself perhaps a bit basic, but that only adds to the charm, and there are some delightful imaginative touches. Will definitely eat here again.

10/10We spend three weeks in Lourdas every autumn. Taverna standards are generally high in Kefalonia, and there are some great places to eat in the Lourdas area. However we tend to eat at Klimatis nearly all the time because it's just SO good! Marina is one of our favourite people; she's always lovely with the customers and has a real sense of humour (she needs it with my husband constantly teasing her!) The staff are all great, and the ambience is unrivalled with the beach just a few feet away, grapevines overhead and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. This is just my favourite place in the world to eat. Love you Marina, see you soon! xxx
