Liana Apartments - (Accommodation in Skala)

Peter & jackie

We stayed a week at the Liana apartments in October 2005.  Although basic, the apartment was very clean and quiet (not much traffic at night in October), which is good as we had a balcony overlooking the road.  The top floor has quite nice views out to sea, with stunning sunrises.  The water was nice and hot and the bathroom adequate.  There was plenty of room for the two of us, however, there was a third bed in the room and if that had been occupied, it would have been a bit cramped.  The cooker is really only good enough for making tea or coffee, but Skala is a great place to eat out.  The fridge was excellent, and looked fairly new.

The only disappointment was that after three days our toilet bin had still not been emptied and we had to ask the rep to get it emptied, and as someone else has mentioned, they are a bit stingy with the toilet rolls.  However, these are readily available and cheap at the supermarket just a short walk down the road.

Greekstones - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

we agree with all the other comments listed below - we hired a hyundai atos for four days in october 2005, which was great for seeing the island.  i would highly recommend both this car and greekstones.  kefalonia is a lovely island with spa**e traffic (at least in october) which made driving a pleasure - it was our first time in a left hand drive car with manual gear change, and we had no problems driving or finding parking spaces.  greekstones are helpful, friendly and efficient, with quality cars.

We hired our Atos from Greekstones in Skala in October 2005.  The car was great, gets up the hills well and takes corners well.  Because of its size, it is also easy to park.

Avra - (Restaurants in Skala)

After reading the comments below, we were looking forward to going to the Aiolos.  However, we felt that it was not quite as good as the Pines or the Aquarius.  We had a good meal here but felt that the restaurant had tried to get too many tables in a small space and we were sitting on top of other guests.

Aquarius - (Restaurants in Skala)

In our opinion, this was our favourite restaurant out of all the ones we tried in Skala.  The service was excellent, the food divine and the wine exquisite.  We were surprised that there weren't more people in the restaurant, although it was October.  All the people in the Sirocco should have gone here instead!

The Pines - (Restaurants in Skala)

This was a very close second to our favourite restaurant in Skala (which was Aquarius), huge menu, lots of choice, great service and atmosphere.  Watch out for the strange toilets . . .

Excellent meal and service, fantastic house wine, what more can we say!

Siroco Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

We had noticed that the Sirocco was always busy, so decided to give it a try.  I don't understand why people came here, I assume it must be because of the friendly waiters, not for the food.  I had a soup which was a packet soup, and the rest of the meal was just adequate.
