Can anyone tell me how far the nearest tavernas and beach are from the Eleni Studios? Also, is the actual complex on level ground (I realise the surrounding area is hilly but we will have car hire). Would we be able to push a wheelchair around the complex? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Fred for the info.  Really looking forward to staying in Lourdas and at the Eleni after seeing so many good reviews.  Have been to Kefalonia twice before and stayed at Sami and Lakithra.  I think the island is stunning.  I'm sure we will be fine at the Eleni and will certainly be sampling some of Kostas menus.  Regards.

Returned from Kefalonia and the Eleni Studios a week ago and have to say we were not disappointed.  Kosta and his family and staff fully deserve all the praise heaped upon them from contributors to this website.  Kosta was very accommodating (we had my 80+ year old parents with us) and looked after us very well.

Eating at the Eleni itself is very good but we also visited several other places during our stay.  We particularly liked the Inopolis (I think that is what it is called).  Don't be put off if it looks empty - they have a small balcony which can't be seen from the road, and people tend to choose to eat outside.  The welcome is friendly and the choice and quality of the meals is very good.  We found it to be the most reasonable too.  We probably ate there 3 times and on each visit we all tried different starters and main courses and we were not disappointed.  Also ate at Dionysos which was okay although not much atmostphere - to be fair it was very quiet when we visited so maybe a visit when they have the traditional music nights might be a better option.  If you head into Sami, try the Mermaid on the waterfront.  Just outside of Sami (you will need transport, be it a bike or car, to explore this beautiful island) in a village called Zervata, you will find the Moonlight Taverna.  Not much to look at, but we liked it.  It's situated right on the village road.  I'm sure you will enjoy your holiday.  There isn't anything not to like about Kefalonia.  KALO TAXITHI - Have a good journey.  STO KALO - Take care.

First ate at Inopolis last year when we had my 80+ year old parents with us.  We were made welcome and the service was excellent.  We went back again this year (without parents) and the owners and the waitress remembered us from last year.  We were given a 15% discount (not sure though if this was a special offer for the week we visited).  Even without the discount, we found the meals very good value.  This year the owners have extended the balcony which is great as most people prefer to eat outside - problem is that the restaurant always appears empty and uninviting to passersby, because the balcony is at the rear of the building.  As in another post, don't be put off - you will not be disappointed.

Glad to see Bob is still in business.  On our last visit he was thinking of moving somewhere else.  Each time we visit Kefalonia regardless of which resort we are staying in, we always pay him a visit.  Bob's service is excellent.  If it's quiet, he likes to sit and chat with you but is never intrusive.  On one of our visits, I asked if his moussaka was made with lamb or goat.  He said goat. I decided to give it a try it but unfortunately it wasn't to my taste - to me, it tasted of coconut and the texture of the meat was stringy,(having said that, I did manage to eat about half).  When Bob saw that I couldn't finish it he insisted he make me something else - no amount of protesting helped.  Bob made me a super pizza in its place.

My husband recommends the fish dishes.  If you tell Bob what you want the day before, he will get it for you.  Bob makes his own wine which is quite potent - great if you're not driving.  Enjoy.
