Mikelatos (Scandinavia) - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

We discovered the Scandinavia late on in our holiday but then had 2 great meals here. The bolognaise pizza and my husband's steak with garlic mushrooms were delicious.

Ta Pitharia - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

We went to the Ta Pitharia on 5 nights of our 14 night holiday. The mixed grill for 2 was excellent and so too was the chicken souvlaki (which they do with a jacket potato if you prefer this to chips), the beef giouvetsi and the stifado.

Nine Muses Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Katie E

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Nine Muses and it is the best hotel we have stayed in in Greece. The rooms were clean and unusually they have doubles. The showers were brilliant as we are used to a trickle in Greece with a bit of hot water if you are lucky. Here they are more like power showers with hot water whenever you want it! The grounds were immaculate and the pool lovely. Great view of the sun rising every morning from our balcony too. Situated just opposite the beach where I got stung by a jellyfish on my first day!

Greekstones - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

Katie E

We have just come back from a 2 week stay in Skala and went to Greekstones to hire a car after reading reviews here. Antonis was very friendly and helpful andgave us a further discount when we mentioned we were on honeymoon! He told us about some sandy beaches and so we went to Avythos on our last day of hiring the car and it was beautiful. We went back to see him later in our holiday and asked if we could hire a car for 1 day to return to the beach. Most other companies won't do this, but even though he was extremely busy Antonis sorted us with a car and we went to collect it at 10pm so we had it for the whole next day. Top marks for service and we will be using Greekstones again when we return to Skala next year.

Ta Pitharia - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

We went to the Ta Pitharia on 5 nights of our 14 night stay in June. The food and service were great. Lovely toasted bread to start the meal and the mixed grill for 2 was excellent. Also loved the chicken souvlaki, the beef giouvetsi and the stifado. An excellent taverna with reasonable prices

Mikelatos (Scandinavia) - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

Unfortunately we discovered the Skandinavia quite late on in our holiday to Skala in June. I just fancied a pizza after eating a lot of Greek food and the bolognaise pizza was gorgeous. My husband had the steak with garlic mushrooms and said it was absolutely delicious. We then went back on our last night as we enjoyed it so much. Excellent service too with very polite waiters.

Nine Muses Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Katie E

The Nine Muses was a fantastic hotel. It was top quality with great rooms, some with double beds, wonderful power showers with hot water and immaculate grounds and a great pool. We loved our room and woke up every morning to see the sun rising over the sea from our balcony. Very friendly and helpful reception and restaurant staff. The restaurant was in a lovely location overlooking the sea which made breakfast so enjoyable.

We have just booked up to return next year!!

Riviera Pizzeria - (Restaurants in Sami)

Katie E

We had a couple of lovely lunches at the Riviera overlooking Sami harbour on our recent holiday to Kefalonia.  Natasha is lovely and she recommeded the caramel (the shape of the pasta was like caramel sweets!) pasta dish and so my husband and I shared that and a salad one day and it was gorgeous! A great spot for lunch or an evening meal.

Paspalis Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

We have just got back from Kefalonia and this year after reading the reviews on here we decided to try the Paspalis hotel for an evening meal a couple of times and it was delicious.  I had the lamb in ceramic pot both times and my husband had the rabbit stifado and the silver bream and said they were also excellent.  Nice spot overlooking the sea too and a great complimentary shot at the end of the meal.  We also had a couple of lunches at the poolside bar here which were also very good.

Nine Muses Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Katie E

We went back to the Nine Muses this year after visiting their last year.  Again the hotel was excellent.  The rooms are of a very good quality and kept very clean and the bathrooms are lovely.  We had a lovely view from our room of the sea and mountains so excellent for sitting on the balcony in the morning and evening.  The weather ruined it for us this year as the first week was cold and windy but it improved the 2nd week!

We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.  The grounds and pool are kept lovely and very pleasant sitting having breakfast overlooking the sea.  It is only a 5-10 minute stroll into Skala and all the tavernas so the location is excellent.  We did not want to come home!

Galera - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

We visited the Gallera just once on our holiday this year.  Ihad souvlaki and my husband had the pork kotsi.  My souvlaki was gorgeous.  I had souvlaki in 4 other tavernas and in all of those it just tasted like grilled meat.  Here it tasted as if it had been marinaded as it should and it was also served with pitta bread, tzatziki, rice and vegetables...gorgeous.   Whereas at Skandinavia I got one kebab and half a jacket potato.  I was starving an hour later.  Can definitely recommend it here.

Mikelatos (Scandinavia) - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

We ate here on 6 nights of our holiday and enjoyed almost all our meals.  We can certainly recommend the stamnaki and my husband loved the fillet steaks covered in lovely sauces which were so reasonable in price.  I ordered souvlaki one night which was disappointing as just tasted of grilled chicken (no marinade) and served with half a jacket potato.  I was starving an hour later.  The bolognaise pizzas are also very good.

The waiters are very friendly and the service was excellent.

Ta Pitharia - (Restaurants in Skala)

Katie E

We came straight back to Ta Pitharia after eating here a number of times last year.  The lovely bread to start your meal was still excellent and our first meal was alos lovely. I had beef giuvetsi which was gorgeous (so wish Greek tavernas would serve their meals with some veg or salad though!) and my husband had the kefalnian meat pie which he said was excellent.

The next meal I had souvlaki which just tased of plain grilled chicken when it should have been marinaded.  Last year it was a lot better.

Assos - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Katie E

We love visiting Assos on our visits to Kefalonia.  The approach to it is beautiful as you see it on the road driving along from Myrtos beach.  The village itself is so pretty and quiet and this year we walked up to the castle and enjoyed the views from the top.  We had a lovely lunch at Nefeli overlooking the harbour after coming back down from the castle.

Greekstones - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

Katie E

We hired our car again this year from Antonis at Greekstones after we hired one last year after reading the good comments on this website.  Antonis is excellent and actually recognised us as we walked past his place on our first night there.  He is a very friendly man and the service they provide here is exceptional.

We hired a fiat punto for 7 days for 243 Euros as we are now a member of Greekstones.  It was due to be delivered to our hotel on Fri morning but Antonis told us how busy he was so after our meal on Thursday night we picked it up from him then which suited us fine as then we set off when we wanted ont he Friday morning.

Car hire is a must on the beautiful, picturesque island of Kefalonia and you must hire it from Greekstones.
